Privacy Notice

Information You Submit

Search entries

A name or place entered in a sponsored search box passes to the third-party provider operating that tool. Douglas County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own system. The provider’s privacy terms govern its collection and use.

Messages

If you send an email or contact message, the information is retained as needed to read and answer it. Messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Automatic Technical Data

Normal web operations can record technical and usage details when a page loads. Those details may include:

  • the requesting IP address;
  • browser name and version;
  • device class and operating system;
  • pages viewed and time spent;
  • a referring site, when supplied; and
  • request dates and timestamps.

Cookies

Cookies and similar technologies help measure how visitors use the site. Most browsers let users block or remove cookies. Some functions may work differently when those settings are restricted.

Purposes for Data Use

Collected information may be used to operate and improve the service. Common uses include:

  • keeping pages available and responsive;
  • sending a sponsored search request to the selected provider;
  • understanding which public-reference pages are useful;
  • finding performance, security, and technical errors; and
  • displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests.

Privacy Beyond These Pages

Links lead to Sheriff and corrections sites, government record systems, statutes, courts, notification programs, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination’s privacy notice and data practices apply. Some advertising partners may also measure activity across sites on their own systems for interest-based advertising.

Parties Receiving Data

Douglas County Released Inmates does not sell personal data. Information may still reach:

  • search partners that process a submitted query;
  • analytics services that measure use and performance;
  • advertising networks that deliver or measure ads; and
  • law-enforcement or government bodies responding to a valid legal order.

Security Is Best Effort

Reasonable administrative and technical practices are used to protect information. No internet-connected service can promise absolute security, uninterrupted protection, or immunity from every breach. Avoid sending sensitive custody, financial, medical, or identity documents through an ordinary message.

Visitors Under Eighteen

The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted personal data may use the Contacts page to request review and deletion.

Available Data Choices

Subject to applicable law and the ability to verify a request, a user may ask for a copy of personal data held by this site, correction of inaccurate data, erasure, or an opt-out from certain processing. These rights concern information controlled by this private site. Minnesota government records remain governed by the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, including Minn. Stat. §13.03, and the agency that maintains them.

Changes to This Notice

This privacy notice may be revised as the site, its providers, or legal requirements change. A new version takes effect when posted here with its updated effective date.
